After weeding the vinyl over the weekend, Allete, Skye, 2 friends of Skyes and myself meet up on Sunday to apply the vinyl to the jars and then cover them where we didn't want the sand to sandblast.
the process started with cleaning the jars with Meths. At the same time a couple of people were using tracing paper to help get the vinyl onto the jars perfectly.
after the jars were cleaned the vinyl backing was peeled off and applied to the jars after being lined up perfectly with the sides and bottom of the jars.
after enough jars had the vinyl stuck to it, the rest of the exposed glass was ready to be covered with masking tape, scrap paper and excess vinyl so then the only places what would be sand blasted would be the exposed area left between the vinyl where the design is.
the bottoms of the jars where also supposed to have a vinyl sticker of our brands logo but the curve of these jars is different from the jars we had done trials on and the logo was to intricate to be able to stick to the bottom of the jars securely enough for the sandblaster to be able to get a clean image what we are in want off. In the end we just scraped the idea because it simply wasn't working for everyone.
