Logo iterations

Some of the design process of creating our logo, eventually we settled on black and white so that we could put it on a colorful background and make everything pop.
There are more iterations and designs to this process including the banner designs and the final logos, however due to an unfortunate  and unforeseen circumstance they have all been lost as my hard drive died. However photos of our banner and final logo remain.

Week 10: Finance

Using google docs to keep track of how much money we are spending and what we are spending it on.
Then today we divided it up so everyone spent the same amount. Our total was $261.15 which was a little over the budget we decided on in the first few weeks which was $250.

Week 10: Market day

The morning of the market we all meet at the industrial building 8:20am to make sure we had everything sorted and ready to go to start setting up at 8.30.

The set us was pretty straight forward everyone helped to get everything ready with a few problems to solve for example the banner not staying up right and the table angle making it fall forward. Which was fixed by Allette and Olivia. They hunted down a long piece of wood that lifted up the front of the tables which in turn make the banner stay up right. Also we had grey paper that sat inside the jars so you could see the label clearly which I forgot to print out so I had to make a quick trip back to print which only took a few minutes. Other than that there was no problems.

I feel the whole set up turn out great and looked professional and by us wearing only back and white we blended in with our stall. Although I reckon we could have documented the market day better and been more prepared for the rush of customers we had at the start as there was a huge influx of people and the bottles ended up running out quite fast.
We had a market day roaster, everyone helped to set up then two people (Jeremy and Allette) ran the stall to 12 then the rest of us took over (Courtney, Olivia and I). At around 12.30-1 we ran out of jars. Customers would come up and ask what our stall was about and we would tell them but also let them know we had sold out, which lowered the mood a bit as people were sad they missed out. Keep our energy but though counted that. After selling out I packed up most of the stall and waited till the market ended.

We had all the jars in order to make it easy to put them up on display after giving one away

Week 10: Pitch

Jeremy's 1 minute pitch draft. Plus the schedule for who will be manning the stall on the day.

Week 10: Suitcase Construction

Suitcase/Stall concepts
Construction of the suitcase

We decided against having a background pattern because it distracts from the product.

As well as using the suitcase to transport our stall to the market I made dividers for each group of bottles to store the ones that weren't on display in an organised way while the smaller suitcase as our display stand which we topped up as the jars went.

Sewing the Bags

Making card patterns to cut out the bags the right size. Prior to this Skye, Jeremy and myself went fabric shopping! We just went to the second hand store and found an old duvet cover that seemed in good condition. This was good because it was double sided so we had lots :)
First the top was sewn to create a casing for the rope to go through, then the side and the bottom was overlocked closed. This meant the bag making process was shorted because they weren't having to be sewn and overlocked.

Then the two bottom corners were pulled out and overlocked off to create a flat bottom for the bottle to sit on. After this we cut 2 holes in the casing on the inside of the bag and threaded the rope through. To begin with we thought we only needed 4 meters of rope, we actually needed 40 but it was from the flexi-hub so it was easy to source more.
This is when all bags were done and the bottles were finished and we got to put them all in their little bags :) The bags also kept the glass protected during transporting.

Week 9: Theme

After class today Jeremy, Courtney and I went to source fabric for the bag. We went to the op shops in town to find and recycle some bedding which only cost us $11 and we ended up with a duvet cover that has the pattern on both sides and a plain sheet. These two images are the colours and the design from the fabric. I replicated the colours and design as we were having trouble with our theme.

CLASS CRIT
We have a logo that is brown but in class today the teachers say it reminded them of chocolate milk so using the colours from the fabric I made some possible designs.

Week 9: Product Idea

We were thinking about having something to put in the bag with the jar. Here i just mocked up a quick design. These would be little cards that sat in the bag that customers could read to see how we created the project and also could be something they potential use as instructions to create there own. As all students at Massy have access to the materials needed.
There would be 3 different back of the card that have our logo on it. First concept to this 'how to' list isn't refined at all.

After talking to the group we have scraped this idea as it just doesn't sync with our offering.

Week 9: Applying Vinyl and covering the jars

After weeding the vinyl over the weekend, Allete, Skye, 2 friends of Skyes and myself meet up on Sunday to apply the vinyl to the jars and then cover them where we didn't want the sand to sandblast.

the process started with cleaning the jars with Meths. At the same time a couple of people were using tracing paper to help get the vinyl onto the jars perfectly.
after the jars were cleaned the vinyl backing was peeled off and applied to the jars after being lined up perfectly with the sides and bottom of the jars.

after enough jars had the vinyl stuck to it, the rest of the exposed glass was ready to be covered with masking tape, scrap paper and excess vinyl so then the only places what would be sand blasted would be the exposed area left between the vinyl where the design is.

the bottoms of the jars where also supposed to have a vinyl sticker of our brands logo but the curve of these jars is different from the jars we had done trials on and the logo was to intricate to be able to stick to the bottom of the jars securely enough for the sandblaster to be able to get a clean image what we are in want off. In the end we just scraped the idea because it simply wasn't working for everyone.
